THE LIST OF ISSURES WITH THE AMERICAN BUSINESS CONTINUES TO INCREASE-THE FRACK YOU SAY!!
(Unedited/Unabridged 2011)
Fracking is the serious threat that Americans are not being alerted to! What Does Fracking Mean? “A slang term for hydraulic fracturing or Fracking! Fracking refers to the procedure of creating fractures in rocks and rock formations by injecting fluid into cracks to force them further open. The larger fissures allow more oil and gas to flow out of the formation and into the wellbore, from where it can be extracted.” (Read more: http://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/fracking.asp#ixzz1fUfoyulL)
First, there is water Contamination from this Shale Gas Drilling. Drilling for the natural gas embedded in shale rock formations deep below the Earth’s surface, contaminates groundwater supplies. Landowners in shale gas drilling areas have reported foul smells in tap water, and toxic chemicals, such as benzene, arsenic, etc,, have been detected in water from wells near drilling sites. In some cases, tap water can even be set aflame because it is contaminated with volatile chemicals because of shale gas drilling. (Gas fracking - A new source of environmental pollution, August 12, 2011) Fracking poisons as arsenic has shown jup in America’s food chain! (Tom Philpott, Some Arsenic With That Supermarket Chicken?, Mother Jones, Sat Jun. 11, 2011)
People in the fracking areas have reported that their live stock such as dogs, goats, chickens, cows, etc. have died from the arsenic that fracking has forced into the water table! (Barry Estabrook, Fracking with our food: how gas drilling affects farming, GRIST, 19 May 2011) Children became sick and were hospitalized and were unable to go to school for as much as a year! An autopsy revealed arsenic in the animals. ,Childern were found to have arsenic in their blood. Their symptoms improved after they stopped drinking their tap water Further, Fracking poisons as arsenic has shown jup in America’s food chain!
Fracking is becoming a common method of natural gas extraction in shale formations throughout the U.S. including:
- The Marcellus shale, which extends from New York State, though Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and into parts of Ohio, Maryland and Virginia;
- the Haynesville-Bossier shale in Louisiana and Texas;
- the Fayetteville shale in northern Arkansas and adjoining states;
- the Barnett shale in Texas;
- the Eagle Ford shale, in south Texas;
- the Woodford shale, in Oklahoma and Texas.
- The drinking water from from Pennsylvania contains large quanities of arsenic
Corporate America demonstrates again that the profit motive is more important then the health of the people!
