BP ADDS ONE MORE INSULT TO INJURY-USING BLACK PRISONERS FOR DANGEROUS WORK!!

BP Hires Prison Labor to Clean Up Spill While Coastal Residents Struggle! BP is paying these Prison Laborers much less money. These workers are mostly Black, The will be exposed to the highest level of toxins, and BP will receive Federal Tax breaks for hiring these workers. In a region where nine out of ten residents are white, the cleanup workers are almost exclusively African-American men.

The Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC) run privately run contract parish jails/facilities and for-profit work release centers. These Prisons and parish jails provide free daily labor to the state and private companies like BP, while also operating their own factories and farms, where inmates earn between zero and forty cents an hour. Private companies are covered under Work Opportunity Tax Credit, a holdover from Bush's Welfare to Work legislation. It rewards private-sector companies for hiring risky "target groups." Businesses earn a tax credit of $2,400 for every work release inmate they hire.

By tapping into the inmate workforce, the company and its subcontractors get workers who are not only cheap but easily silenced—and they get lucrative tax write-offs in the process. BP has also hired many, many University Professors and researchers to silence them and deny the government their “experts” testimony if any prosecution were to take place!

Further, inmates have been historically used for dangerous jobs and for testing of new cosmetics and pharmaceuticals! The complaint of an inmate poisoned by the toxins from BPs oil spill will be honored much less than one from citizens without jail records! BP has started to use the canister mask for breathing filters instead of the fresh air mask which can remover most of the toxins from the fumes of the oil soaked beaches!!

All this and much more shows just how arrogant BP is about this act of terrorism that has killed eleven American already and is harming the health of many, many more.

This is a direct challenge to the US Government to determine which institution has the most power!! Surly American can win this challenge if its citizens demand that the criminals that caused this harm are brought to justice!
